Our Story

Established in 1969, Yough Lake Marina is a family-owned and operated marina situated on the scenic Youghiogheny River Lake in Addison, Pennsylvania. With 330 boat slips across 10 docks, we are the only marina on the lake. Run by the Leskinen family (Steve, Shanon, Mike, Kristi, Amanda, Shane, and Bret), the marina has been a cornerstone of the local boating community for over 55 years, providing a welcoming home for boaters, anglers, and water sports enthusiasts who love spending time on Yough Lake.

What started as a passion for the water and a deep appreciation for this corner of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands has grown into a full-service marina that serves hundreds of families each season. We take pride in knowing our customers by name and treating every boat owner like part of the family.

The marina sits on historic ground: the site of the Great Crossing, where George Washington forded the Youghiogheny River on five separate expeditions. The submerged town of Somerfield and the 1818 Great Crossings Bridge lie beneath the lake just offshore. Explore the full history of this storied location.

In November 2024, a devastating flood destroyed 25% of the marina's docks, causing $300,000 in damage from water that rose 14 feet in under a week. The Leskinen family rebuilt through the winter and reopened on May 1, 2025. The story was featured in Marina Dock Age magazine. Read about the 2024 flood and rebuild.

The Third Generation

All five of Steve's children grew up working at the marina and have carried that work ethic into careers across the country. Mike Leskinen is now the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Airlines. Kristi Leskinen is a pioneer of women's freestyle skiing, an X Games and World Championship medalist who competed on The Amazing Race and currently serves as X Games Legends Director. Amanda Leskinen co-owns and runs the Historic Summit Inn Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. Bret Leskinen is a civil engineer in Fayette County. And Shane Leskinen works daily at the marina, keeping the family tradition alive.

A Stunning Location

Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, Yough Lake Marina sits on Youghiogheny River Lake, a 2,840-acre reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake stretches roughly 16 miles through the rolling hills of Somerset County, surrounded by lush forests and mountain scenery that makes every day on the water feel like an escape.

We're just minutes from Ohiopyle State Park, one of Pennsylvania's most popular outdoor destinations, and within easy reach of Fallingwater, Deep Creek Lake, and the many trails and attractions of the Laurel Highlands. Pittsburgh is about 90 minutes to the northwest, and Morgantown, West Virginia is roughly 45 minutes to the west, making Yough Lake Marina an accessible weekend retreat for families across the region.
